When I first met Leanne, she was doing a Mini Tour of Brisbane, which led into some gig’s at “Soundwaves with her friends/ mentors Chris Ellis and Bill Chambers. Leanne had just released her “Are you there?” EP. To this day it gets high rotation on my ipod. Much deservedly so too, it’s a beautiful piece of work!
However, “Pull Up Your Britches” is even better!!! Hard to believe I know, but true. In todays music scene, you must learn to continually to evolve. And It's a beautiful thing listening to Leanne evolve.
In 2015 Leanne is well on her way to become Australia’s top Female Independent Artist. Her sublime lyrical messages are as infectious as her rythms, and smooth voice. She instantly captures her audience, Leanne loves her audiences. (And that love is reciprocated!)
Since originally writing this article, Leanne has gone from strength to strength. (As Predicted) Her Song "Bearing The Crown" has been Awarded Queensland Music's Best Song Award (QMA) in The Blues and Roots Catergory. Achieved air-play on triple-j, along with her second release from the Album, "Black Snake Calls".
She's Toured extensively doing Festivals, and played with some of Australia's finest Artists. This year certainly does seem to be a good year for Leanne. And it couldn't have happened to a more talented, and deserving Australian Songtress. She's worked hard at it. Starting October 3rd she embark's upon an extensive Australian East Coast Tour. This Tour includes 3 dates with Ash Grunwald. Then, from the 9th until the 19th of November, Leanne plays a number of shows at the JB Arts Festival in Malaysia. When Leanne returns, (far from home) to Sydney on the 20th, she takes part in Music week there. I'm so glad that a talent like Leanne is out there, and being noticed! In Australia, it's the hardest thing in the World (almost) to get noticed in the Entertainment Industry. She's certainly talented, putting the work in, and any success she has, is very much deserved. She's "The Real Deal"!
